Day 01: Cusco - TAMBO PAITITI

We start our jungle tour leaving from Cusco in the early morning in our private bus. During the journey along the small road, we will pass an impressive landscape and small communities. Leaving the colonial village of Paucartambo behind we reach the Acjanaco Pass (3550 m/ 11.647 ft), the entrance to the Manu National Park. There you will have a first view over the eastern slopes of the Andes to the canopy of the Amazon rainforest. During the trip further down you will observe the fascinating change from the altiplano to the Cloud Forest of the Manu National Park with its unique fauna and flora. In the early afternoon you will reach the San Pedro River. A short jungle walk will take you to the Manu Eco Lodge TAMBO PAITITI (1500 m/ 4.921 ft). From the observation tower or the different platforms of TAMBO PAITITI itself and right above the San Pedro River you may see the Andean Cock of the Rock (national bird of Peru), Toucan, Quetzal, Tanager and Motmot as well as Woolly Monkeys, Brown Capuchin Monkeys, Tayra, Agouti, Southern Tamandua and South American Coati. The Manu Cloud Forest is also habitat of the Night Monkey, the rare Spectacled Bear, the Jaguarondi, Ocelot, Puma, Weasel, Otter, squirrels and a big family of rodents and bats. Of course, you may also just relax observing nature from the terrace of the lodge and other viewpoints, or you can have a refreshing bath in the San Pedro River. After dinner you may experience nature within dark and learn about the wildlife at night in the Manu Cloud Forest.

Day 02: TAMBO PAITITI - PUSHARO LODGE
The early morning is the best time for bird-watching and observation of other animals of the Cloud Forest. After a delicious breakfast in TAMBO PAITITI you will continue the jungle tour to the Amazon lowland rainforest. After approximately two hours by boat you will reach Santa Cruz, a control point before entering the Manu National Park. Our native Machiguenga guides will be waiting here for us. We will continue another two hours upstream along the Palotoa River, an affluent of the Alto Madre de Dios River. On our way we will visit a school and the etnobotanic garden of the Machiguenga community of Palotoa-Teparo. In the afternoon we will reach the PUSHARO LODGE. During the evening we will visit a tapir leck nearby and with some luck we will be able to observe the tapir, wild pigs or deer.
Day 03: PUSHARO LODGE

In the early morning we will leave for the petroglyphs of Pusharo. During the hike through the jungle of the Manu National Park you will experience the multitude of this untouched nature, which is home of the tapre, jaguar, and of course a variety of monkeys and other animals. Our Machiguenga native guides will show you the secrets of the Amazon rainforest and will explain the use of different plants for medicinal purpose, for cooking and other applications. After approximately 3 hours we will reach the petroglyphs situated in a steep rock face on the shore of the river Shinkiveni. These petroglyphs are a fascinating evidence of a nearly unknown culture in the rainforest. Archaeologists are interpreting the figures as a possible hint to "Paititi", the mysterious lost and golden city of the Incas, which is assumed to be situated in this jungle region. After visiting the petroglyphs of Pusharo you can enjoy a refreshing bath in the river and relax in this unique landscape before returning to PUSHARO LODGE. The hike back to the lodge will offer you another opportunity for wildlife observation and for learning more about the tropical rainforest.

Day 04: PUSHARO LODGE - TAMBO EORI
After breakfast we will have to say goodbye to the native community of Palotoa-Teparo. We will return by boat and follow the Alto Madre de Dios River upstream to our Manu Eco Lodge TAMBO EORI, the former settlement of the Masko Natives. In the Afternoon our guide will lead you along another jungle trail into the tropical rainforest. Nearby the Jaguar has been seen several times!
Day 05: TAMBO EORI - CUSCO
In the early morning we will leave TAMBO EORI and have a short boat ride in order to observe parrots at a clay lick nearby. We continue by boat to Atalaya and then follow the road to the Manu Cloud Forest. Lunch will be served in the relaxing atmosphere of TAMBO PAITITI. Our bus will take you up to the Acjanaco Pass and back to Cusco. You can enjoy once more the variety of landscapes Peru offers. Arrival at Cusco in the evening.
