Day 01: MANU - MOUNTAIN BIKING
We start our trip in the early morning leaving Cusco in our private bus. During the journey you can enjoy the impressive landscape, passing small communities. Leaving the colonial village Paucartambo behind, you will reach the Acjanaco Pass (3550 m/ 11.647 ft), the entrance to the Manu National Park. After a delicious lunch above the eastern slopes of the Andes with a view over the canopy of the Amazon rainforest, your mountain bike adventure starts: a large downhill into the Cloud Forest, more than 50 km / 31 mi descending the lush eastern slopes of the Andes from 3550 m/ 11.647 feet down to 1500 m/ 4.921 ft! In the afternoon you will reach the San Pedro River. A short jungle walk will take you to the Manu Eco Lodge TAMBO PAITITI (1470 m/ 4.826 ft). (L, D) (Biking distance: 50 km/ 31 mi)
Day 02: MANU - RAFTING
The early morning is the best time for bird-watching and observation of other animals of the Cloud Forest. From the observation tower or the different platforms of TAMBO PAITITI itself and right above the San Pedro River you may see the Andean Cock of the Rock (national bird of Peru), Toucan, Quetzal, Tanager and Motmot as well as Woolly Monkeys, Brown Capuchin Monkeys, Tayra, Agouti, Southern Tamandua and South American Coati. The Manu Cloud Forest is also habitat of the Night Monkey, the rare Spectacled Bear, the Jaguarondi, Ocelot, Puma, Weasel, Otter, squirrels and a big family of rodents and bats. After a delicious breakfast in TAMBO PAITITI you will continue the to the Amazon lowland rainforest until reaching the Kosñipata River and the Alto Madre de Dios River (Mother of God River). Here we will begin our rafting adventure, which offes you complete new perspectives on the tropical rainforest. After 4-5 hours on the Rafta, you will be expected in our Manu Eco Lodge TAMBO EORI (470 m/ 1.542 ft) at Maskoitania, the former settlement of the Masko Natives.
Day 03: MANU - JUNGLE HIKE
In the early morning we will have a short boat ride in order to observe macaws and parrots at a clay lick nearby. After braekfast your Guide will take you on different jungle trails, which are used exclusively by our groups to explore the tropical rainforest with you. The lowland jungle is the habitat of more than five hundred different species of birds, several species of monkeys, a lot of butterflies, amphibians and reptiles.
Day 04: MANU - CUSCO
We continue by boat to Atalaya and then follow the road to the Manu Cloud Forest, where we will stop for lunch inTambo Paititi. Later we continue our journey over the Acjanaco Pass and back to Cusco. You can enjoy once more the variety of landscapes Peru offers. Arrival in Cusco in the late afternoon.
